Monthly Styling Tip

This month I wanted to focus on creating functional spaces that help give the illusion of space. I have noticed that people who have smaller spaces are not doing what they can to make it appear bigger, unless you’re intentionally trying to make your space smaller, intimate, and enclosed then that’s fine. However, if it is not your goal I have a few simple tips that can help achieve this.

You need to consider the kind of person you are because a smaller space may make you feel claustrophobic and oppressed which can lead to stress and anxiety.

The concept of a free-flowing space does the complete opposite to our feelings, it encourages you to feel peaceful, energised, and productive. If this is your vibe, then apply the following:

1. opt for lighter neutral colours in your room.

Any pops of darker shades should be minimal but significant, meaning use a block bold colour for your cushions, coffee table, art work or lamps etc to help balance the room and ensure it feels warm and balanced.

2. Less is more

Minimalism to some degree is healthy, visually seeing less gives the sense of more space. Not overcrowding your space also helps you feel less congested and overwhelmed, it also means there is more space in the room! It’s easier to clean and your space will always look fresh and well put together, so start decluttering or remove the unnecessary today, you will feel so much better Promise!

3. Mirror Mirror Mirror

You will be surprised how effective mirrors are, not just to look at our own reflection but the reflection of the room. Position it in an area where it reflects the room and can bounce light and you will see your room expand automatically. This is because the mirror reflects more light in the room, and it looks like the room continues through the mirror.

There are more Tips to share that truly work so watch my YouTube Video on ‘How to make your room look bigger’ for more.
